Word on the Street

JO BAILEY

"Those vocals are ridiculous - in a good way of course!"

STREET SOUNDS MAGAZINE

"Floods of Tears is a heartbreaking eye-opening classic, set to captivate audiences worldwide."

PUNKTUATION

"The band's melodic and rootsy ska/reggae-infused punk is addictive stuff indeed, and as indefatigable vocalist Carrie leads us through a sing-along to 'Not The Only Ones', the sense of community in the New Cross Inn is already almost tangible."

WHO ARE CARRIE AND THE COAXERS?

Meet Carrie and the Coaxers, the London crew blending melody and reggae vibes with punk energy, creating music to make you think, feel and move.

Fronted by powerhouse vocalist Carrie Griffiths (Buster Shuffle, Brandy Row and The Truebadours, Static Kill), and James Cruttwell (East End Badoes, The Gonads), the friends joined forces in the autumn of 2022 for a musical adventure, sharing lyrical and melodic idea via Messenger. They come together to fuse Carrie's love of Stevie Wonder, reggae and pop with James' obsession with Cock Sparrer, and a joint love of punk and OI!

After a few false starts throughout 2023, the now impatient musical partners enlisted the talent of Phil McDermott and Paul Mummery to help bring their music to life.

In a feat of musical excellence, they recorded the tracks for their first release, Floods of Tears, just nine days after just one rehearsal, Floods of Tears was released after a further eight weeks.

Since their musical coupling the "band" have undergone numerous line-up and name changes, finally settling on Carrie and the Coaxers two days before recording.

Gonk  (Terminal Heads, Terminal Decline, Dissent) joined in February 2024 with Adam Jones (Terminal Decline, Dissent) adding his outstanding drumming skills in May 2024.

John Sawyer (Terminal Heads, SWR) finished the line-up in March 2026.

The Sound...

Carrie and the Coaxers take influence from punk, Oi!, reggae, soul and pop resulting in genre-crossing tracks that speak to personal, social and political issues.

Beyond the beats, Carrie and the Coaxers stand for a world without hate, spreading their message through lyrics that resonate with likeminded music lovers globally. Join the movement.
